Register now for the first Columbus-Muscogee County Criminal History Summit.

Criminal records hold back millions of people every year. According to the Georgia Center for Opportunity, more than 2 million people have a criminal record in Georgia* -a record that can stand in the way of employment, housing, student loans or a professional license.

Many of those records are eligible for restriction, formerly known as "expungement." Record restriction means that eligible details on an official criminal history report are restricted from public view and are only accessible to law enforcement for criminal justice purposes. Determining if your record is eligible to be restricted is the focus of the first Columbus-Muscogee County Criminal History Summit.

Sponsored by the Office of Danielle F. Forté, Clerk of Superior & State Courts, the Summit will provide assistance to individuals with a criminal record who would like to learn more about the restriction process and potentially update their information.

The summit is free, but registration is required. Early registration is strongly advised as space is expected to fill quickly.
